How to shoot a good score on #12 Hole
The twelfth hole is the shortest hole on the golf course. It's a relatively short par 3 by
most standards; however, I believe it is one of the toughest greens to hit in regulation.
The hole plays to a maximum of 150 yards, but there is hardly any backdrop, which makes it
tough to judge the distance.
The green consists of four SMALL targets where the pin can be tucked, but the toughest pin
is on the front left shelf. There are two large collection areas that are tough to get up
and down from if you go just a little long or left. If you're short or right you'll have
to deal with a large ridge - Another tough up and down. The front right or back right pin
brings the huge bunker in the front right of the green into play. Finally, the back left
pin brings those collection areas into play again.
Most players don't hit enough club on this hole and find the front right bunker. I suggest
taking an extra club from this tee and aim it to the back middle portion of the green.
This is the fat part of the green, which will help keep the big number out of play. The
most important thing to do is make sure your alignment is correct on this tee. The hole
kind of shoots back towards the right and it's difficult to aim properly here. All right,
after all those calculations you hit it on the back of the green. After you line up your
putt, really concentrate on your speed and get that first putt up there within a couple of
feet. Nice distance - You left it a foot short and tapped it in for your par. Onto the
long par 4 thirteenth hole at 6 over par. |
