How
to shoot a good score on #5 hole.
The fifth hole is a medium length uphill par 3. This is a very difficult hole because the
green is not very deep so your distance has to be very precise to get the ball on the
green. Secondly, the fifth green is where we start the tour of the shores of Lake Fork
which means the wind will be a factor. As you stand on this tee box you may not be able to
feel any wind; however, as your ball is carrying towards the green the wind coming off of
the lake may push your ball to the right. As you can see picking the correct club on this
hole is extremely difficult. I would pick out a target on the right side of the green
(even if the pin is left) and err towards the longer club if you are between clubs. Good
shot, you are just right of the green. Now you have quite a bit of green to work with so
take a 8 or 9 iron and bump and run it across the green for a more consistent chip shot.
Well, you left yourself about a 10-footer for par and slid it by the left lip. You tap in
for bogey and again we head off to the peninsula without making a big number yet. By this
time you are fairly loose and have not ruined our round with a big number. Now we will go
to the par 5 sixth hole at 3 over par.
