How
to shoot a good score on #8 hole.
The eighth hole is
a great example for future architects on how to design a demanding course at a decent
length to combat the advances in technology. The hole is 380 yards from the tips. The hole
goes 230 yards out and than 150 yards right. You can hit anything from a 3-iron to a
driver off the tee depending on how much of Lake Fork you want to chew off. I suggest
taking a club that will get you 200 yards off the tee (from the Blue Tees) and pick out a
target on the left side of the fairway. Nice shot you are just left of the 150-yard
marker. The second shot will be back into the wind and a little left to right. The green
is four clubs long so be sure to pick the right club for your second shot but DO NOT be
long! Not bad, you ended up on the front right of the green, a perfect miss. You have a
long 50 footer for birdie, pick out you line and again really concentrate on your speed.
Not bad a three footer left, line that up be confident and knock it in for your par. Nice
hole, Next... the short par 4 ninth hole at 4 over par. |
